The Ramsay Blue Tartan boasts a rich but enigmatic history, shrouded in the mists of time. Although its roots are believed to stretch back to the 18th century, the first documented mention emerged in the 1842 book "Vestiarium Scoticum," now regarded as a controversial hoax. This distinctive tartan was officially recognized by the Scottish James Buchanan. One of the most well known associates of the clan, James Buchanan served as the 15th President of the United States from 1857-1861. He served immediately prior to the American Civil War and remains the only President to be elected from Pennsylvania and to remain a lifelong bachelor!
